Indigo Airlines
Overview
IndiGo Airlines is a low cost carrier, owned by InterGlobe Enterprises. Introduced in August 2006, the airline has become one of the leading carriers of India in a short span of time. A Gurgaon based low cost airline, IndiGo has its main hub at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi . With a fleet of brand new aircrafts, accompanied with the state-of-the-art facilities, the airline provides hassle free and on time journey to passengers.
IndiGo Airlines Fleet
IndiGo Airlines currently has a fleet of 19 Airbus A320 - 200 aircrafts, with seating capacity of 180 in each aircraft. However, the airlines had placed an order for 100 Airbus A320 aircraft during the 2005 Paris Air Show. The 100 aircrafts order is supposed to be fulfilled by the year 2016. According to company sources, the airline has set a target of serving around 30 Indian cities by 2010 with a fleet of 40 aircrafts, including A320 and A321 series aircrafts.
IndiGo Airlines Sectors
Like most of the leading domestic carriers, IndiGo too operates several flights daily on almost all important aviation sectors of the country. The airline serves to domestic sectors like Delhi to Mumbai, Mumbai to Goa, Goa to Bangalore, Kolkata to Mumbai, Delhi to Kolkata, Delhi to Chennai and Chennai to Hyderabad.
IndiGo Airlines History
With the inaugural flight service from Delhi to Imphal via Guwahati, on August 4, 2006 IndiGo Airlines commenced its operations. Earlier on 28th July, 2006 the airline took delivery of its first aircraft Airbus A320 - 200. In the year 2006 the airline received six aircrafts and nine more aircrafts were delivered in 2007. In the interim, Bruce Ashby, former US Airways Executive Vice-President, Marketing and Planning joined IndiGo Airlines as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Destinations
Currently IndiGo operates flights to 17 domestic destinations including all metros. Cities served by IndiGo flights are Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad , Pune, Kochi, Goa, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Jaipur, Nagpur , Bhubaneshwar, Guwahati, Agartala and Imphal. IndiGo offers the convenience of same day flights as well, which means that you can land in Mumbai from Delhi for a morning meeting and be back in Delhi for dinner. This connectivity is convenient and ideal for business travellers.
In Flight Services
IndiGo Airlines does not offer complimentary in-fight meal service to its passengers. Only water is offered complimentary on board. However, you can buy food items such as sandwiches, nuts, soft drinks and other eatables on board.
