Overview
A low cost airline, Kingfisher Red was earlier known as Simplifly Deccan and Air Deccan before that. It was India 's original and first, low cost airline. The airline is a subsidiary of Vijay Mallya owned Kingfisher Airlines. Based in Bangalore, Kingfisher Red is considered India 's best low cost carrier. Besides on time operations, the airline provides fine services and entertainment options to passenger on board and satisfactory ground services.
Kingfisher Red Fleet
The fleet of Kingfisher Red consists of 41 domestic short haul flights. The Kingfisher Red Airlines fleet comprises ATR 42, ATR 73 and Airbus A 320 - 232 aircrafts. The airline has already placed orders for more aircrafts to increase its fleet size in the coming time.
Kingfisher Red Sectors
Presently the airline operates flights in all the important domestic aviation sectors and less in demand regional sectors as well. Some of the sectors covered by Kingfisher Red are Delhi to Mumbai, Kolkata to Delhi, Goa to Delhi, Chennai to Delhi, Delhi to Varanasi, Bangalore to Hyderabad, Delhi to Bagdogra and Patna to Delhi.
Kingfisher Red History
Kingfisher Red was started as Air Deccan by Captain G.R. Gopinath on August 23, 2003 with an inaugural flight from Bangalore to Hubli. Owned by Deccan Aviation, Air Deccan was established as common man's airline. In fact, Air Deccan was the first Indian airline to introduce low cost air travel and flight services to second tier cities like Mangalore, Madurai and Vishakhapatnam.
On 19 December, 2007 due to financial woes in global aviation market, Air Deccan decided to merge with Vijay Mallya and his Kingfisher Airlines. Following series of talks, in April 2008 the merger finally came into effect with approximately 50 per cent ownership of each company.
At the meantime, Deccan Aviation was renamed as Kingfisher Red Airlines, with Vijay Mallya as the Chairman and CEO. While, Captain G.R. Gopinath was given the vice-chairman's post of the new company. Air Deccan was also rebranded as Kingfisher Red.
Destinations
Kingfisher Red flights fly to 69 domestic destinations, including all metros and several other regional cities. The airline offers its services to Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Goa, Hyderabad, Patna, Bagdogra, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Shimla, Kullu, Visakhapatnam , Guwahati, Dibrugarh, Port Blair, Rajahmundry, Tirupati, Vijaywada, Raipur, Srinagar, Leh, Dehradun, Madurai, Coimbatore, Jaipur, Bhubaneshwar, Cochin and many other destinations.
